Accounting Help

I am really clueless when it comes to some of this accounting stuff, and I can't afford to visit the CPA yet. I hope someone can help me. this is long though, and I would really appreciate your patience.----------
Background: I am using MBA software for AVON reps. I am also on erep and usually put each order in separately. I usually have two orders for me - one for business tools and samples, etc, and one for my personal stuff. I have been paying myself for my personal stuff. But I don't know how to show this stuff in accounting, so here are my questions ----------
1. Is this the right/best way to handle my purchases?----------
2. For sales to to customers should I be using the total invoice amount including order fee and tax?----------
3.Cost of goods sold - Isn't this just the total amount of the AVON invoice? If not, where do I put the individual amounts?----------
4. If I pay myself for my AVON purchases, do I show personal purchases as a deduction to my income?----------
5. Inventory - I have purchased some overstock items from other reps and minis from AVON. I include these in orders sometimes as free gifts. but I haven't been keeping track of these? Do I need to keep track of each item I give away? Should I show the price I paid, and then show the 100% discount to show it as free, so the sales amount is higher, or should I just show it as no cost to the customer, or not put it on the invoice at all?----------
Thanks so much for your help. Feel free to post comments here, or privately at tgbsews at aol dot com.

Hi tgbsews,
I hope you get some good answers to your questions. I have the same questions about accounting that you do.
I really like the MBA program. It handles orders and customers really well. However I find the accounting section lacking a lot to be desired. Most of the fields in the My Accounting Worksheet could be filled in automatically. All the information is already there in the MBA program but I am wearing my brain out trying to figure out what goes where in the worksheet and the correct way to enter it. Such as: what items to include, when to include sales tax and when not to, and on and on. I am very confused.
I'm only in my third campaign and even if I go back and look at accounting for my first campaign, I am having trouble filling out the worksheet for my second campaign.
I would like to see an update to the MBA program that either automatically fills in the accounting worksheet from data already stored in the program or have some type of interview process, like TurboTax does, that would lead us through the process of filling in the worksheet.
I'm currently spending as much, or maybe even more, time working on the accounting worksheet than I am on entering and placing orders.
How about it Stan? Is that possible? I personally would be willing to pay extra for it.
Thanks, Kotty
