After using MBA for several years on XP, I have found it will not work on my new Win. 7 laptop. It seems to download successfully, but nothing happens when I click the icon on the desktop. I have tried re-installing several times but with no success. There seems to be some talk that a Windows upgrade is responsible, and Stan has said that Win 7 doesn't like MBA sitting on the C drive and not in a program files location. Can anyone help?Huh?

For Win 7 you can install then you need to right click on MBA Desktop icon, when menu appears click on Run As Administrator. In properties you can check to box to run as Administrator as well.  Runs fine on my Win 7 desktop as well as my Win 7 Notebook.

I have a new version coming out (I just need to get the Restore portion of Backup/Restore to work and then I will release as new version). It will put MBA in Program Files and the Data files in \Documents section (the exact Documents section depends on version of Windows you are running).

It will be out this week but I don't have an exact date until I have the Restore issue resolved (probably Saturday but I can't promise for sure). I will have the iMBA Test out right after that (Web server for MBA data)

Cheers,
Stan

Hi Stan: Still no luck with run as administrator route. Seem to get a lot of messages about MBA wanting to make changes to the harddrive and although I allow this, the program still won't open from desktop.  Is there merit in me trying to find someone locally to see if they can figure out the issue...or just hang tight for your new version. Cheers Chris

I have new version coming out this weekend.  It will default the install to "Program Files" folder and put the data files in \Documents\MBA\Avon.  This conforms with new Vista/Win7 security. You will still get the "User Account Control" window asking if you trust this program. I am looking into getting Code Signing Certificate that prevents questioning each time you run program. Certificates cost hundreds a year, ouch!

Cheers,
Stan

Good to hear, Stan. Will you simply update the download page with the new version, or will it be in a separate location? And any chance of a heads-up when it's ready? Many thanks... and enjoy the Christmas break!

I have Win 7 version done. I just have to test the installer and I will upload to site when done. Will create a new post with Win 7 in subject line.

Cheers,
Stan

If it's ready, from where do I download it? Thanks Stan
